Yard House offers American food and a huge selection of beer
Are you in the mood for some standard American grub? There are certainly plenty of restuarants to satisfy your desires but if you want good American food AND a huge beer selection, then a place you should try to visit is The Yard House, an upscale bar and grill with locations in approximately ten U.S. states.
Plenty of restaurants exist that offer American food, but what makes the Yard House so special is its large selection of food and impressive selection of draught beer. The restaurant was founded in Long Beach, California by restaurateur Steele Platt- a man who moved to the Golden State from Denver where he had enjoyed great success in the bar business. Platt had a vision to open a new restaurant/bar combination that would offer a wider selection of beer along with an expanded menu of American style food. His vision became reality when the first Yard House opened its doors.
The atmosphere at Yard House is casual, but classy. Each location has a centrally- located bar with dozens of beer taps circling the interior section. I have visited a couple different Yard House locations and each one had approximately one- hundred taps! Some have more than others, but it is normal to find at least one- hundred taps of beer serving products that span the spectrum of craft beer. The beer selection is not only diverse, it is also well- organized on the beer menu, sorted by style and listed from the traditionally less complex styles to the more complex.
Yard House has many interesting food options on its menu and many categories- far more than a typical bar and grill and more than most restaurants in general. Grilled burgers, steak, chicken, etc., are the mainstay of the menu, but customers can also enjoy combination entress that take ethnic foods like Mexican, Korean, etc., and combine with other ingredients for a uniquely American creation. The presentation of the food is often interesting too, with an emphasis on a more elegant visual appeal. The food is also very tasty and fresh, and most of the menu options are large enough to leave you satisfied, yet moderate enough that you don’t feel like a quick nap after leaving.
Ethnic restaurants have their place, but sometimes, all I want is some good ol’ American grub and my favorite beer and the Yard House easily delivers on both counts. The food and beverages might be a little costlier than many are prepared to pay, but the impressive selection and laid- back yet elegant atmosphere combine for a memorable experience.
