Rio Blanco Brewhouse Brown is a good session beer
Texas is a large state, both in area and in population. Suprisingly enough, however, the Lone Star State is somewhat lacking when it comes to craft brewing operations. Slowly but surely, this fact is changing and one of several fine breweries in the great state of Texas is Real Ale Brewing, located between San Antonio and Austin. One of its many creative and tasty brews is Real Ale Brewhouse Brown , an English brown ale.

Brewhouse Brown pours to a rich brown color with ruby edges. A good pour produces a steady head of foam that gradually descends to a thin layer of tan- colored coating on the top of the brew. This beer offers a roasty, bread- like, and slightly acidic aroma. And its taste is what one would expect , with flavors of roasted malt, caramel, toffee, bread, nuts, and chocolate. The flavor finishes with an earthy- hop sensation that is bitter and helps to balance out the overall taste.
Real Ale Brewhouse Brown is a pleasant brown ale with plenty of good qualities that make it tasty, agreeable, and easy drinking- the type of brown ale that most any consumer will find likeable, at the very least. Real Ale Brewhouse Brown is more bitter than sweet, and this will make it a good choice for drinkers who dislike the often sticky- sweet, candy like flavors of some brown ale.
Brewhouse Brown has a decently complex character that doesn’t go to extremes. It checks in with a bitterness rating of 33 IBU, which is a good degree of bitterness without taking it too far. Some would even say there is a bittersweet quality to this product, even though it certainly leans toward the bitter side overall.
With so many positive qualities, Real Ale Brewhouse Brown is certainly a product worthy of sampling and one that earns my stamp of approval. It makes a good session beer and it is the type of brown ale that most anyone will find agreeable and enjoyable. It isn’t sold outside of Texas, so make sure to look for some if you find yourself stuck in the Lone Star State.
