Colorado’s Oskar Blues Brewery was the first American craft brewery to package its beer in cans, inspiring many craft breweries to follow suit and ditch glass for metal. Oskar Blues products are already distributed across the United States and in several countries and now, Oskar Blues has added another country to the list- a nation known for its poisonous snakes, vast deserts and, yes, its love of beer. I am talking of course about Australia and beginning in July this year, Oskar Blues will enter the land down under for the first time. It marks Oskar Blues first foreign export into the Southern Hemisphere and through its partnership with Phoenix Beers, Oskar Blues will sell the six core Oskar Blues brands: Dale’s Pale Ale, Mama’s Little Yella Pils, Pinner Throwback IPA, Oskar Blues IPA, Old Chub Scotch Ale and Beerito Mexican Lager. The beer will be available in cans and on draft in one-way kegs.
Oskar Blues Director of Brewing Operations, Tim Matthews, feels his company’s beer is a great match with Australia and its beer- loving residents.
“We feel that our cans and kegs of American craft-brewed flavor will be a great fit for the Aussies, and, considering that our newest IPA – Oskar Blues IPA – is made with all-Australian hops from Bushy Park Estates in Tasmania and Rostrevor Farms in Victoria, we think that the timing couldn’t be any better. It’s like a homecoming… for our hops,” says Matthews.
Phoenix Beers is celebrating the introduction of Oskar Blues beer to Australia with several launch events throughout the country, both to announce Oskar Blues’ arrival and most importantly, to celebrate the simple fact that Oskar Blues beers will now be available for Aussies to enjoy on a regular basis. Details on these events will be finalized and announced via social media over the coming weeks.
