Easy drinking and delicious, this Hefeweizen is a beer that aims to please.
Beers come and go, but there are several classics that have been satisfying beer lovers for decades, even centuries. One beer that has been around a very long time and continues to enjoy popularity is Franziskaner Hefeweisse, a product from Germany.

Franziskaner Hefeweisse pours to a golden/tan color with a cloudy body. This hefeweizen brew offers a nose that features the scents of yeasty, citrus, and banana. A good pour results in a good level of foam and it maintains at least a small layer all the way to the end of the glass.
Tasting Franziskaner Hefeweisse is a treat to the senses. Flavors include wheat malt, banana, citrus, yeast, and a small amount of clove. A mellow but very enjoyable wheat presence combines with flavors of fruit and yeast for a sweetness that never becomes cloying. And even though this beer is soft, it isn’t light bodied.
Brewed according to the Bavarian Purity Law of 1516, Franziskaner Hefeweisse is an excellent beer from one of the oldest breweries in the world. This company can trace its roots all the way back to 1363 a.d. and it ranks among a handful of old German breweries with products sold throughout the United States.
Franziskaner Hefeweisse is considered one of the benkmarks for its style and it ranks among a handful of hefeweizen that most every beer drinker has sampled at some point. The complex flavors of wheat malt, banana esters, yeast, and fruit combine for a memorable experience. Probably the greatest quality of this beer is its drinkability. It is very easy to quaff several bottles of this beer and the sweetness serves to further contribute to the drinkability of this German hefeweizen and to its overall enjoyability.
Widely available and reasonably priced, Franziskaner Hefeweisse is a very tasty beer and one of my favorite hefeweizen products. It can be found in most stores and I consider it an old standby that I reach for when I crave the taste of hefeweizen and cannot decide on an American version of the style. Good complexity, good body, and excellent drinkability make it a hefeweizen to enjoy and savor.
