Corona, one of the most popular import beers, is branching out to an all- new category for the brand. The category is flavored malt beverages and the new line of drinks is called Corona Refresca, a premium spiked refresher beverage.
Corona Refresca is available in three different tropical flavors: Passionfruit Lime, Guava Lime, and Coconut Lime. The addition of lime flavor to each isn’t too shocking, since it is, after all, the type of fruit most commonly added to a bottle of Corona beer. The Passionfruit and Guava flavored versions will be sold in six packs while the Coconut Lime flavor will be sold in a 12 pack mixer that will include all three varieties. The price will be similar to that of a quality craft beer.
UPDATE! Nutritional Facts for Corona Refresca are as Follows:
Ann Legan, Corona’s Vice President of Brand Marketing, says the new drinks are intended to capitalize on the growing trend and changing consumer tastes.
“We know consumers are seeking an alternative malt beverage experience,” said Legan. The drinks are “for multi-cultural females and males who are looking for a premium spiked refresher that delivers a taste of the tropics,” she added.
Corona’s decision to launch into the flavored malt beverage market makes sense, given the rise in popularity of this market segment. Beer sales overall have been in decline for a few years and the big name brands have been hit especially hard. But flavored beverages and seltzers are on the rise and have witnessed sales increases. According to the research firm International Wine and Spirits, this category advanced 6 percent in 2018. The trend is expected to continue into 2019 and beyond.
Smirnoff Spiked Sparkling Spritzers rank among the top sellers in this category. Other popular options include Redd’s and Steel Reserve drinks. According to International Wine and Spirits, White Claw Hard Seltzer was one of the top sellers of the year in 2018, experiencing triple digit growth. Considering the popularity of the Corona brand and its marketing muscle, there is a good chance Refresca will go over well with the drinking public and could easily move into the ranks of the top sellers.
Corona’s Refresca lineup weighs in at 4.5 percent alcohol by volume and each of the three flavors contains less than 200 calories per 12 oz. serving. The drinks will be distributed first in California, Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Florida, and North Carolina in March, 2019. Distribution will go nationwide in early May.

Always exciting when a company you like creates a new product! Hopefully Corona fans enjoy this. Sounds great 🙂
Bryan says
My prediction is that Corona fans will like it very much! I think many others will, too. It’s a fast growing market segment.
Kyleigh McQuaid says
It’s HORRIBLE! drank 1/4th of a coconut one, couldn’t take another sip and have a massive headache.
Kristin says
I am so sad these are so full of sugar, carbs and calories! Definitely not figure friendly.
Daisy says
I know right I am considering returning them to the store. 24.5 grams of carb per serving. Ridiculous
Judy says
where do you see the sugar content?
Judy says
Try the passionfruit. 🙂
Camille says
I love the new refresher but the guava lime tastes like cough medicine:( …but I really love the coconut lime:) awesome! I just wish it was in a 12pk by itself…the passion fruit lime is okay….
Joce says
Omg for Keto people look at those carbs!!!
Better go with Smirnoff spikes seltzer’s, Truly seltzer’s and others!! However, Corona has the best flavored seltzers! I’m happy with lower carbs so everyone’s choice!!
Lawrence Frazer says
I agree with you. The carbs are killers. And no reference to sugar which is probably responsible for the high carb count. Unfortunately for those of us who do Keto, truth is if it tastes good (and it does) its probably high in carbs and/or sugar and therefore off limits. (darn) Smirnoff is my choice but they don’t taste as good as Refrescas, Figures.
Sherri Jones says
Way way to many grams of carbs!!! They don’t put it on box anywhere. There are other brands that only have 3.5 carbs per can. These have 22-25 carbs PER CAN.
Joy says
I agree. I will stick to the seltzer.
Joy says
To many carbs and calories for me. Won’t buy again. But tasty .
Michelle says
How many carbs!? I can not find this info or how many grams of sugar 😡 seems like they are hiding big amounts here 🤔🤬
Bryan says
You are correct about not being able to find carb and other information. Considering there are about 200 calories per serving, zero fat, and likely only a gram or two of protein, the calories are almost entirely carbohydrate, so the figure would seem to be pretty high. The same goes for the grams of sugar.
Joanna says
I agree!!! They don’t taste bad but they are way sweeter than I like I was expecting a Seltzer and it definitely tastes sweet
Beverly DeVoll says
22.5 to 23.6. I love these drinks but calories and carbs add up with daily intake of all food needed for healthy lifestyle.
Dawn says
22 to 24 per flavor
Brandon says
I have been looking for the amount of sugar in these for half an hour and have found nothing. Obviously it is so high they don’t want to share it in their disgusting new line of drinks full info.
Bryan says
You are probably right, unfortunately. I’m a little surprised by Corona for not being more transparent with this information. The fact that they are not coming forward, like you said, makes it look like they are hiding something.
Judy says
It’s listed above.
Passionfruit Lime: Alcohol by volume: 4.5%; Calories: 178; Carbohydrates: 22.8g; Fat: 0g; Protein: 0.1g
Guava Lime: Alcohol by volume: 4.5%; Calories: 185; Carbohydrates: 24.5g; Fat: 0g; Protein: 0.2g
Coconut Lime: Alcohol by volume: 4.5%; Calories: 191; Carbohydrates: 25.7g; Fat: 0g; Protein: 0.1g
But not the grams of sugar. 🙁
Rose says
Yeah that is sad! Been really excited to try them-my hubby bought a 12 pack I was soooo excited, taste was sweet, too good to be true-sadly their not forth coming on the contents-I feel so bloated after the first one! Too sweet corona go back the drawing board please!
Lisa says
I agree completely! Cannot find sugar content anywhere! Seems like they’re hiding it…
Patti says
Hi, does anyone know what the sugar content of these is???
Can’t wait to try them!!
Bryan says
I have not been able to track down this information, but I would bet it is significant.
Jax says
They are very, VERY sweet. Do not taste like fake sugar. I’m not a huge fan. I don’t see the facts on the box either. I tried the Guava Lime.
Rose says
Super tasty-sugar is not revealed-where I can find it
Laura says
They are way sweeter than the spiked seltzers, so I am guessing more sugar.
Maryann says
Since the carb count is hidden…I am assuming it is high. I would really like to know so I can decide whether to drink this or not. For now…it is a not.
Bryan says
I would agree- the carb count is likely high and that is why they are keeping quiet about it. I have searched online and tried to find answers but come up short.
Kara J Petron says
Wow, it’s impossible to find the carb count! Not a good idea when SO many people are counting carbs. 🙄
Hiding the info isn’t going to be to your advantage. People watching carbs know what they’re looking for and I’d be willing to guess there’s about 20 carbs per serving!
Linda Linbeck says
Are you kidding? The ingredients are not listed on the can? Or on the box? Googled it — not on their website either. I can’t find what the sugar content is, or whether or not there are artificial colors…………
This is inappropriate, wrong and just plain stupid. Will absolutely NOT PURCHASE AGAIN. When I didn’t see the ingredients on the box, I thought that surely they would be on the can. Your marketing department is naive if they think this is a good idea……..just saying.
Bryan says
I agree- Corona really needs to disclose this information. They should have disclosed it up- front, on the packaging. They will not respond to inquiries
Krista says
Completely my frustration as well!!
Andrea Knox says
Can you please send me the nutrition facts on the Corona Refrescas. Carb count? Sugar count? Calories? Nothing is labeled on these.
Bryan says
I plan to update my post when I find something out. Corona isn’t saying anything.
Mark says
I purchased these yesterday and I thought i would see #’s on the can. 🙁 next time i will buy the seagram’s seltzer. The Refrescas taste too sweet to be low in sugar and carbs and calories. I agree there’s a reason they didn’t disclose info on the box.
Kelley says
It’s above. Between 22 and 24 depending on flavor.
Becky says
What is the carb and sugar content? Please inform! This is insane not to have this clearly available to the public!
Lisa says
What is the carb and sugar count?? I can not find anywhere…
Ted says

Bryan says
Thank you for this info!! It is about time Corona made it more visible.
Carol Jimenez says
Does the passion fruit lime have grapefruit? Very tasty for a change of beverage.
Annette Rogers says
Wasay too many carbs, that’s why everyone drinks the carbonated waters, duh! Too much sugar…taste at least, they dont say what the sugar is.
Bryan says
Yes, the carb content is certain to scare away many potential drinkers.
Lisa says
NOWHERE is the sugar content noted!
Corlis says
Bought my first yesterday. Love it!
Kim says
Why isn’t nutritional facts on the packaging? I was talked into buying because the sample person assured me they were low in carbs and sugar. I took 2 with me camping and almost passed out from sugar/carb overload! I will never purchase again. Now i’m Stuck with 9 of them.
Bryan says
I agree, the manufacturer should include the calories/carbs/sugar content on the package. Consumers deserve to know this information
Harry Piels says
The guava is excellent but, yes, very sweet. So you look at it as a desert and skip the cake.
Sherri Williams says
Way over the carb content!!! How can you refresh knowing you drank that much sugar!!!!
Rick says
Has anybody figured out the actual sugar content on these? I am asking for the exact grams-of-sugar count per can. How is it not illegal that this isn’t clearly labeled on the packaging?
Jennifer says
These are soooo good!!!! Have been drinking them all week being the 4th of July week and all…..BUT…..just saw these are 199 calories each, no way I’m done. Will go back to corona light and truly!!!!!!!
Eileen says
I just called the 800 number on the can of guava lime Refresca & the rep told me there is 23grams of sugar In this flavor!! I knew it tasted really sweet! Will have to go back to white claw or Smirnoff. Way too much sugar to drink!!
Daniel says
Thank you so much for this
Dianne says
I love the coconut lime!! But you can only get it in the 12 pack with all three flavors. The other two flavors are just okay. Sorry, Corona, I won’t be buying the 12 pack to get maybe four cans of the flavor I like.
Rosie says
Bought once–never again–simply because you hide behind the ingredient list. Not cool at all Corona! Shame on you for not listing that info!!!
Bryan says
I know where you’re coming from. A lot of people are disappointed, even disgusted at Corona for not releasing the calories, carbs, and other facts. It has cost them potential customers.
Kyleigh says
Right! No matter what you Google or how you Google it, you can’t find the full nutritional facts .. how are they comparing it to a spiked seltzer .. more comparable to a nasty four Loko with half the alcohol percentage .
Harley says
I am wanting to know how much sugar is in a Corona refresca. My wife has recently found out she is borderline diabetic & she is trying to find a malt beverage with low sugar. No where on the website states the sugar content….WHY?
Bryan says
If you want a malt beverage low in sugar, this is not the beverage for you! Yes, Corona really should have come forward and disclosed this information up front. It is now known that they apparently avoided disclosure because the sugar, calories, and carbs are all excessive and they didn’t want people to know right away.
Annie says
Is there red 40 in the lime guava?
Bryan says
I’m not sure about the coloring, as I cannot find a definitive answer to your question. But I believe the color is artificial.
Judy says
PLEASE share what the sugar content is and what type of sugar is used.
Tish says
I’m a Corona Lite fan. I had one coconut lime can at 7:30 pm. Extremely sweet and it kept me awake all night from the VERY HIGH sugar content. Will be giving these away. Try again Corona.
Stacey says
Omg. Love it! This is my new lady jam.
Marcia says
How much sugar???? No one is unser my question!!!
Rocanne says
Its obvious they don’t want to reveal the sugar content of the Refresca so not for me😟
Judy says
Total carbohydrates would include simple sugars. Looked at carton for ingredients only after I already tasted one, only to see they weren’t provided. Sneaky. Most other brands I looked at were labeled with at least the calories. My mistake for not looking at this one more closely. I certainly won’t buy again.
Rico says
I like the coconut flavor but you can taste the sugar. I too was surprised of not being able to find the nutritional contents on the can or package. Makes me wonder what they use in their beer making process!
Wendy says
I only tried the Guava because I looked up the carbohydrate information while I was drinking it. (22-26 carbs per 12 ounces) I was Fooled by the name ReFresca because Fresca is a low carb/diet soda – I Will be returning the 12 pack *minus 1*… I wish the nutritional information was on the packaging of All packaged drinks/foods!
Rats says
Just found out….37G of sugar per can….twice as much as Coca Cola!
Glenn says
Would love to know the sugar content. Diabetics like malts and beers but not if I dont know the sugar content.
