Clown Shoes Beer, the Massachusetts brewery known for its tongue-in-cheek product names and eye- catching, controversial labels, is expanding its footprint to more states, with distribution to Ohio starting in October, 2013.
Clown Shoes has been slowly expanding to more states over the past few years and as more craft beer fans sample its products, its popularity and demand for Clown Shoes beer continues to rise. The decision to move into Ohio was due to several factors, but consumer interest and the size of the market were the primary drivers.
“We knew for the last couple of years that there was already some demand within Ohio for the beers that we do and we were just waiting to have the capacity to brew enough beer for our current market as well as Ohio,” said Clown Shoes Marketing and Compliance Manager Matt Smith.
Brewing enough beer to meet the demand is a challenge, but Clown Shoes is up to the task. Its new, 30- barrel brewery system allows it to brew much larger quantities than before. Last year, the brewery produced close to 6,000 barrels. It expects to produce around 10,000 barrels this year and the numbers will likely grow even more in the future. The larger system should be enough to keep the brewery going for the foreseeable future.
Clown Shoes plans to distribute its products through Premium Beverage Supply and will sell the following beers in the Buckeye state:
- Hoppy Feet
- Galactica
- Muffin Top
- Tramp Stamp
- Chocolate Sombrero
- Genghis Pecan
Premium Beverage Supply plans to roll out Clown Shoes first to Cincinnati and then work its way in a northwest direction, reaching Columbus and Cleveland later. The six products above will kickoff the launch. Others may be added later if Clown Shoes catches on, as it is expected to do.
