Ciders are growing in popularity and the cider leading the way to increased market share is Angry Orchard. Many consumers have already fallen in love with the original Angry Orchard and it makes perfect sense that parent company Boston Beer would continue to expand the product lineup. Its latest offering joins a few other Angry Orchard ciders in the year- round rotation. It’s Angry Orchard Green Apple, a product made with Washington State green apples for a balanced taste.

Light golden in color and completely clear, Angry Orchard Green Apple offers the scent of fresh apples with a hint of
alcohol and a small amount of yeast. There is a slight amount of carbonation and you have to look closely to see it. But it is there, adding a slight amount of fizz to the mouthfeel.
Angry Orchard Green Apple tastes like green apples, as expected, but there are other flavors present, like melon and even a touch of honey. The cider tastes sweet initially, but there is an attempt to balance the sweetness, at least a little, with tartness in the finish and the crisp, smooth body makes it easy to drink.
I’m not a huge consumer of cider, but I don’t mind the occasional diversion from beer, provided the product is a little sweeter than average, but not too sweet. This is in direct contrast to my preference with beer. I like my beer to be more on the dry, bitter side with only a small amount of sweetness. Angry Orchard Green Apple seems to have achieved the balance I like with a taste that swings toward the tartness end of the scale in the finish, but remains sweet overall. It reminds me of certain apple- flavored candies in many respects and it is very easy to drink and refreshing.
Angry Orchard Green Apple is gluten free and is available in 6- packs or as part of assorted 12- packs with 3 other Angry Orchard products: Angry Orchard Crisp Apple, Angry Orchard Apple Ginger, and Angry Orchard Cinnful Apple or Angry Orchard Elderflower. It joins Crisp Apple, Traditional Dry, and Apple Ginger in the regular, year- round lineup, making it an easy product to find.
Those who prefer their cider a little more on the dry/tart side mind find this product a tad too sweet. But if you’re like me and enjoy a cider that tastes similar to actual apple juice with a slight kick, then you will like Angry Orchard Green Apple. Look for it in stores where other Angry Orchard products are sold, purchase a six pack, and bring some green apple refreshment into your life, courtesy of Boston Beer’s Angry Orchard product line.
