September and October are widely regarded as the beginning of the fall season and a return to school. But to the lover of fine brew, the early months of fall are the season of Oktoberfest and the popular restaurant chain known as Red Robin is getting into the Oktoberfest spirit with a new beverage/dessert that few before them have tried: A beer milkshake.
How is This Shake Made?:
Red Robin’s beer milkshake is made using Samuel Adams Oktoberfest beer, soft serve vanilla flavored ice cream, vanilla, and caramel. The combination of malty brew, ice cream and other accompaniments results in a beverage that tastes like a malted milk shake.
Other Oktoberfest brews would likely work just as well and would impart their own unique twist on the flavor. But for now, the plan is to make this beverage exclusively with Samuel Adams Oktoberfest. Who knows- if the shake proves itself popular and wins over enough fans, it may be expanded in the future to include different Oktoberfest beer options at the discretion of the customer.
When Can I Buy It?:
Red Robin is offering its beer milkshake for a limited time only. It first became available in mid-September and will be offered through November 11, 2012, or while supplies last
Will Red Robin Offer Complimentary Foods?:
According to Red Robin, there is one appetizer that goes best with the Samuel Adams Oktoberfest Milkshake: Warm Pretzel Bites. They are warm, soft, and are served with cheese dip and mustard sauce. The combination of sauces and pretzel flavor make them the perfect companion to a milkshake made with beer.
Does Red Robin Plan Any Other Seasonal Specialty Food or Drink?:
They certainly do! Here are three additional seasonal offerings from Red Robin, available for a limited time:
- Oktoberfest Burger – This is an Oktoberfest-inspired burger originally introduced in past years and back for another run. This burger is made with a fire- grilled beef patty, toasted pretzel bun, beer mustard, Swiss cheese, beer mustard sautéed onions, Black Forest ham, and green leaf lettuce.
- St. Louis Butter Cake – This is a fall dessert treat featuring warm caramel apples and rich, buttery cake served over vanilla ice cream and topped with caramel drizzle and whipped cream.
- Honey Bourbon Lemonade – This beverage is based on Red Robin’s classic lemonade. It combines Red Stag Honey Tea Bourbon and Minute Maid brand lemonade, which are then shaken with fresh mint and agave nectar.
Red Robin only plans to offer its Oktoberfest milkshake and these other seasonal food and beverages for a limited time, so visit a Red Robin near you and celebrate the Oktoberfest season in style.
