Come on down to World’s Fair Park for the Knoxville Brewers Jam
Knoxville, Tennessee residents have much to look forward to this weekend. No, I’m not referring to the University of Tennessee Volunteers and a day spent at Neyland Stadium. I am referring to Knoxville’s premier craft beer event: The Knoxville Brewers Jam. Here are the facts:
When: October 16, between 1pm and 7pm
Host: Community Shares
Where: World’s Fair Park, downtown Knoxville
Events: Live music, beer tastings, food
Knoxville’s Brewers Jam continues to grow and this years’ event is scheduled to include forty- five breweries. Thirsty patrons will get to enjoy beer from local Knoxville breweries such as Downtown Grill and Brewery, Woodruff Brewing, Smoky Mountain Brewing, and the new Marble City Brewery. In addition, there will be several North Carolina breweries serving their products, such as Highland Brewing (Asheville), Asheville Brewing, French Broad Brewing (Asheville), Duck Rabbit Brewing (Farmville), and even some national brews like Sierra Nevada, Samuel Adams, New Belgium, and Rogue.
Musical entertainment proves to be noteworthy. Festival- goers can jam to the tunes of four different bands: Shortwave Society, Kevin Abernathy Band, Same as it Ever Was, and the Drunk Uncles. Food will be served by vendors such as Jimmy’s Concessions, the Parlor, Regas, Big Fatty’s, Culinary Creations, Sweet P’s BBQ, and Shrimp Dock.
The Knoxville Brewers Jam is now in its fourteenth year and it ranks as one of the best “small” beer festivals I have ever attended. The cost this year is $40 (only $15 for designated drivers or $2 for kids under the age of 13) and it includes a small drinking glass and unlimited access to all of the featured breweries at the event. The weather this time of year is usually perfect, so bring the family and enjoy an afternoon of fine brew at the Knoxville Brewer’s Jam.
