Goose Island has big news. The Chicago- based brewery is ready to release the first in a series of new beers created especially for its adoring fans. These beers are fuller, heavier, and more flavorful than the average beer and should resonate well with the craft beer crowd.
Introducing: The Illinois, the first of three new beers in the Goose Island Imperial Series. The Illinois is an Imperial India Pale Ale (IIPA) being released with limited national distribution in late-February.
The Illinois is an homage to “The Mile High Illinois,” a skyscraper designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the city of Chicago in 1956, but that was never built. Had it been built, it would still be the tallest building in the world today – standing 528 stories and 1,600 meters tall, reaching a mile into the sky. Inspired by this big thinking, Goose Island’s brewers crafted a beer with towering hop character.
TASTE PROFILE
Like the beer’s namesake, Goose Island has crafted The Illinois to be big, bold, and to push the limits of hop flavor and aroma.
Color, Aroma and Taste: Deep gold in color with a complex citrus aroma and a taste that is balanced with clean bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full body
Hops: Chinook, Cascade, Citra and Meridian
Glassware: Nonic Pint

AVAILABILITY
The Illinois will be available to hop seekers with limited national distribution on shelves in 4- packs of 12-ounce bottles and on draft beginning February 24. Once it’s gone, it’s gone.
