The internet is great for many things and sharing thoughts on beer has to
rank near the top of the list. With the click of a mouse and a few strokes on
the keyboard, beer fans of all stripes can quickly express their viewpoints on
beer products from all ends of the globe, compare notes and tastes with other
beer drinkers, and perhaps meet some new friends in the process.
Several web sites operate as public forums for beer review postings and one
of the largest is RateBeer.com. Periodically, ratebeer.com members organize
gatherings, and one happens to be scheduled in the coming weeks, in Los
Angeles. The RateBeer.com Summer Gathering is planned for July 19 through July
22 and will include beer and food from local breweries and restaurants.
Participating breweries include:
- 38 Degrees
- AleSmith
- Beachwood Brewing
- Blue Palms
- Bootlegger’s
- Bruery
- Craftsman
- Eagle Rock Brewing

The RateBeer.com Summer Gathering is mostly a bus tour, but it begins with a
simple pub crawl and welcome party on Thursday, July 19. The wheels start
turning on Friday and continue through Saturday with stops at different
watering holes in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. The bus picks up and
returns to the same hotel, so all are safe. Sunday wraps up the event with a
large tasting and barbecue.
RateBeer.com has been around for a
while and this, the RateBeer.com Summer Gathering, is now in its tenth year. If
it sounds interesting, keep in mind that involvement requires prepayment. Go to
the rateBeer.com event page for more information on prices, lodging, and
contact information. And tell them Great Beer Now sent you.
