Adelbert’s Brewery, Austin Texas’ prized jewel of Belgian-style brewing, just announced the release of a brand new beer and expansion to the state of California.
The new beer is called The Traveler and it’s a Belgian-style India Pale Ale. This unique beer blends four different hop varieties, resulting in a beer with a deep golden hue and an aromatic citrus, biscuity nose. The flavor has been described as hoppy with floral notes balanced out with hints of clove from the Belgian yeast.
Scott Hovey, Adelbert’s owner and brewmaster, exercised special care when approving this new release: “In the process of creating this recipe, we taste tested a variety of Belgian IPAs. The flavors ranged from a lightly hopped tripel to the nastiest hop bomb you can imagine. We aimed to meet in the middle to create an easy drinking, one-of-a-kind IPA.”
Adelbert’s plans to have a release party at the brewery on Friday, February 28, between the usual tasting hours of 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Traveler will be released in bottles and kegs the first week of March, 2014. It will be part of Adelbert’s year- round rotation.
Along with the release of The Traveler, Adelbert’s is proud to announce its plans to distribute beer to California. The brewery has partnered with Wine Warehouse, one of the nations’ largest distributors of alcoholic beverages, to take up the task. The Traveler will not sit alone on California store shelves. It will be joined by Black Rhino, Philosophizer, Flyin’ Monks, Dancin’ Monks, Tripel B, Scratchin’ Hippo and Naked Nun. The addition of California expands Adelbert’s reach to a total of five states, which include Texas, New Mexico, Florida, and New York.
Kevin Day, Beer Manager of Wine Warehouse, stated his enthusiasm for the partnership: “We are thrilled to be adding the world class Belgian-style ales of Adelbert’s Brewery from Austin, Texas. The quality of their beers is exceptional and we expect Adelbert’s will be a star in our portfolio.”
